Stalking Tortoise - Jeff writes the trail journals, does the planning and remembers tons of detail about the trail.

Smoking Sox - Tim fixes the trail journals to keep Jeff based in reality and maintains the site. Tim lives in central Massachusetts with his wife Edie and three boys, Cameron, Ethan and Adam.

Sheep's Head - Mike forgets to post his pictures, but usually brings extra booze. Mike is a proud new father and has over-achieved in his marriage to Shannon.

Shannon does not yet have a trail name, and is currently a stay at home Mom raising her beautiful little daughter Sydney. Shannon is a great hiker and a retired (at least for a little while) school teacher. We figure it is only a matter of time before Shannon and Sydney are ready for the trail.

JJ

JJ was given the trail name ‘Cookie Monster’ after a heroic late-day hike into the Cookie Lady’s place in Massachusetts. He was physically spent but found the energy to “hike just a few more miles” to reach the promise of free cookies. JJ is a veteran milehiker with four section hikes under his hipbelt. When he’s not on the trail, the Cookie Monster keeps in shape with football from August through October and regular workouts at the gym with Dad Stalking Tortoise. The kid can hike… when he’s properly motivated. Mmmm… cookies.

Ethan on the rocks
Energizer Bunny - Ethan is an 8-year old who loves being outdoors. He has done some great winter hikes as well and has joined in three of our AT section hikes. On Ethan's first long AT hike (age 6), I made the mistake of telling Ethan there was no whining on the AT. At the end of a brutal 2nd day, he was in front making some noise. When I asked if he was whining, he said "I am crying Dad… is that okay?" but never missed a step. Ethan and Dad are in prep for climbing a few 4000+ foot New England mountains.

Camron with Adam in the background
Cameron (front) is Tim's oldest. Cam is a great easy going kid who enjoys the outdoors a little less than a good video game, but is a great hiker. He is a builder and creator and has a great sense of humor. See http://www.camknight.com for more about him. Cameron has attended our two Father’s Day hikes on the AT.

Adam resting on a stump
Adam is Smoking Sox's youngest and is a sports guy. He keeps up with his big brothers Cameron and Ethan with no problems. Adam skied 40 days at http://wawa.wachusett.com/ our local ski area. He is a very avid baseball fan and has joined us on 2 of our hikes as well.

Maggie the wonder dog. Maggie is a miniature Australian shepherd . Mini Aussies were first described to me as a big dog in a small dog package.

Maggie's first long hike was at age 1, where she was able to do 65 miles of PA rocks in 3.5 days.
